Darlene,
I would do a couple of things with the business to promote your rugs.
One is to have a seperate blog for rug only. The second thing I would do is sell them on e-bay at the auction. You can e-mail me if you want futher information. I'm no seller to e-bay but it is something I have thought about for wedding and gifts. Hopes this helps.

Hi Darlene, :)

What an incredibly generous Giveaway!
I already know the winner will be thrilled to get such a quality made rug.
~WOW~ Oh I would love to win this one...;)

I'm new too as you know and my advice would be to really just "Be a Friend" to all bloggers. I feel that really taking the time to comment to all who visit me seems to make for a more successful post and Blog in general.
As far as the money part... I've heard that can be done but I don't know the answer.

Your blog is wonderful. Congrats!
~Melissa :)

Wow what a wonderful giveaway. I would love to win!

My advice to get more people stopping by is to go visit them. Leave a message. Most of the time the person will come to your blog and say hi back. Plus if you write something interesting you will get others stopping by to see what your blog is all about.

Giveaways are also good ways to get people to stop by to say hi.

Congrats on your 100th post!

I'm going to post your giveaway on my blog for you. I hope you get a few hits from there.

Hugs,
Joanne

Wow, how nice of you to have such a generous giveaway.. Well, I have two pieces of advice. The first would be that is to be yourself always. I have found that in years of business that people really, especially when it comes to buying creative things, they really want to know about the creator. That adds more value to the piece that they purchase and two, well you are a doin' it! These occassional giveaways are a great way to drum up more interest in your blog
oops there's another one!
post often and change your headers and backgrounds occassionally. I get board when I see the same thing on a blog and change is fun and interesting.
Well that's my two cents. Others may have more tech answers, but I'm not a techie kinda girl.
Blessings to you and I always enjoy a visit at Our Creative Life

Blossom,

Oh yeah I've been selling fulltime on ebay for over 8 yrs and I also teach classes on how to sell on ebay. In fact my success on ebay is what enabled us to start the custom rug business. We also sell on etsy & Amazon. I was really wanting more blog hints & tricks. Thanks for entering the giveaway!

Hi, Darlene, of course, sign me up! I'd love to win this rug, they are beautiful. Congrats on 100!

OK, blog advice, I imagine these have been covered, but I think that being friendly, visiting people & just being yourself is the best advice. I think blogging can take on a life of its own & sometimes we want to compare ourselves to other bloggers, who might be bigger than we are (I've been guilty of that), but it's best to just be yourself & let your own personality come through. That seems to be what has been best for me. I blog about what I enjoy & what's going on in my life & people seem to be interested in that & keep coming back.

So you might go to Blissdom?? I hope you do, yes I'm going too. Can't wait! We will definitely meet up if you do.

I love love your blog and this is a great give away.
Only advice I could give would be to ask for more feedback so you know what is a hit (post wise) and what isn't. Getting more comments is the key. Lots of people read blogs but to get them to comment is harder than it seems.
Whatever you are doing is working.. I hope all these suggestions help you out!!
thanks!

Darlene,
What a great giveaway! I would love one of those rugs to show off to all of my friends...they would sooo be wanting one too! :)
I love reading blogs, and one of the things that makes me want to return to a blog is knowing that I will get something fresh to look at or think about. I like to see decorating ideas, projects, or even just see someone's brainstorming about something that they are planning. I also love getting a peek at the bloggers personality. I want to know what they do, what they like, what drives them crazy, frustrates them, etc.
I think your blog looks very interesting already!

Hi Darlene,

I found you from Rhoda's blog.

I am a gal that is all about decorating and blogging tips...so feel free to email me anytime, I love to help people, especially other bloggers :)

If I had to just give one tip, it would be to join twitter and actually participate on twitter, too. It is a great way to promote yourself and your business in a friendly way and also learn so much from the great people on twitter. There is no way to really 'explain' twitter...you just have to get in there and do it. I am Bella_Casa over there, so make sure to follow me.

If you want to take a peek at my blogging tips blog, it is located here:

http://bellacasanews.blogspot.com

And again, feel free to email me because I have so many more tips that I could share with you:)

Thanks for the fantastic giveaway, those rugs are gorgeous!

Darlene, you could also go on myspace and set up a business profile and then link it to your blog and vis versa! Does the blog have a business section for business owners to interact other than finding you because they click on someone else.
One way to get more traffic is to give some small give aways every month and the feed back from that will get the word around blog land.

Good Golly!!! It is a big giveaway! Yipeeeee. Ok here is my blogging input... As hard as you try you cant please everyone. I have learned just to be myself and have fun with my blog. Thats it! Now to live what I just preached, hehe. Hope I get lucky. I love those rugs~

Sunny said...

Hi, just found your blog from This Young House. My advice is actually going to be how I found you! Go and leave comments on other people's blogs... that's how I find a lot of blogs in the first place, by reading the comments of the blogs that I love!

If you can find a well-established blog like TYH, then they might feature your product in one of their posts... which will get a lot of traffic to your site. I think the trick is to just get your site out there and let the people see it. Your products speak for themselves beyond that!

That being said, I would love to win one of your rugs, they look beautiful! :) Congrats on hitting 100 and best of luck to you and your family! God Bless!

Melissa Miller said...

Hi Darlene,
I thought of something else.
I haven't done it yet but alot of bloggers are into making "buttons".
You know the link picture of your blog that someone else puts on their blog advertising yours.
If you make one I'll post it.
I already have quite a few on my sidebar.
~Melissa :)

I suggest saving your html code if you never have and then every time before you amke any changes!

Melissa Miller said...

Hi Darlene,
I have no clue either but I know Kristen at "Somethin about Nothin" made hers and Lynette's.

I'm sure she would tell you how.

Funny thing if I make one eventually I already know I want it to be a heart.

I guess my cart is before the horse.

Hi there! I just came over from Kari and Kijsa. Your rugs are way too cute. Love the colors! Well, since I'm here I might as well leave some advise and enter the givaway, right?

I guess my advise would be to always leave a comment when you visit another blog. Everyone likes to read comments and that might bring some traffic back to your place from other commenters. Good luck!

~ ~ Ahrisha ~ ~ said...

I would love to win the rug. I can see it beside my bed already.

Hints, ya know I just started my blog in December so I'm new to this too. Still learning the ropes. I try to just be myself and let it shine. Maybe my grammer isn't correct and that makes some folks nuts but it's who I am.
Oh Yeah, differing from another commenter but here goes. I believe that having the same background on my blog will become my signature. As soon as that page pops up you know where you are. That's just me. There are others who love change, eeee, maybe that's it, I'll have to work on that. What ever you do make it fun.

Oh yes, please add my name to the pile :)

My blogging advice would be to use Bloglines.com to check when your favorite blogs are updated. That way you don't have to click on each blog individually to see if anything is new. Have a Blogline account, and it will just display the blogs you follow that have updates. Big, big time savings :)

Oh yes, and PICK ME!!!!! LOL

Blessings,

Hummm, hints and tricks? I really don't have any. Sorry!
I don't make money off my blog.
Some days I'm a terrible blogger. Some days I tell my husband that I'm going to stop blogging because I fell so guilty that I can't visit everyone. But when all is said and done, I decide that as long as I enjoy the actual blog experience and if I can inspire others, I will continue to blog.
So I guess that would be my advice: Enjoy the experience!

Hello Darlene,

I came over via Rhoda, pls enter my name I would love to win your beautiful rug !!

I have a family blog and no time for my own, plus I've discovered along the way that I enjoy reading more than posting, that said the blogs that draw my attention are the ones with decorating tips, recipes, family stories, travel and some humor. And as I get to know the people its the people themselves that I come back to see, they feel like friends and when they're upset just sending out a hug or a prayer does us both good.

I hope I've helped, and I really want to win....LOL

All the best,

Darlene, the rug is so beautiful! Really nice eye-popping colors. I love reading blogs...although I don't have one right now, I feel that the two things that make me come back again and again to a blog is the bloggers frinedliness portrayed through their blog writing and the interesting topics of conversation that they choose to write about.

Anonymous said...

Hi Darlene,
You have such cute rugs - what a generous giveaway!!

I have to admit, I am a terrible blogger - I haven't posted once this month. So my first piece of advice, is post often!!

But I do understand making money online since I have several successful websites. So my 2nd piece of advice is to remove Google Adsense from your blog.

I do believe you can make good money with Google (one of my pages does fantastic with it), but I don't believe you should use Adsense on pages where you want your visitors to buy from YOU.

Google Adsense will show ads from merchants similar to yourself. You'll make a lot more money from the sale of your rugs, then you will off the click of a visitor.

I hope that helps!!

Sadie said...

Oh, this would be wonderful for my boy's room - their first names both start with the letter N! :)
For blogging advice, I would just say read and respond to others blogs - I know whenever I get a comment from someone knew, I visit their blog and leave a little comment love too. The best method of advertising is truly word of mouth!

I came across your blog via Rhoda's, and it is awesome! I am not a great source of blog advice, because I have not been the best at keeping up with it. That is one of my New Year's Resolutions! However, one piece of advice that was passed onto me from Nancy of Southern Lady is to always be yourself, and let your true personality come out. I would love to be entered in the giveaway! Those rugs are amazing!!! :)

I love your rugs! What a great idea! I really don't know how to make money off of your blog. I do mine just for fun. My advice would be to leave comments on other's blogs. Have a button with your link that others can post on their blogs. Congrats on the 100th!

Oh - your rugs are so pretty - pick me!!

Have you ever visited "Blog Stalkers"? I have the link on the right hand side of my blog. It is in a pink box that says, "Devotion by stalking...." You can go over there and meet new bloggers. It would be a new place to network and get people to visit your blog. But, you really just have to do like everyone else has said and visit and comment when other people visit you.
Good Luck ~

What adorable rugs! Soooo cute!

My advice is always try to stay ahead with blogging. I always try to have at least three or four posts that I am working on so that when I open my computer to post- I'm not just staring at a blank space. I start a post as I'm thinking of something and then go back later to finish it.

Blessings to you,
Shannon

Hi,
I am a first time visitor to your blog and loved those rugs. I am probably the last person that could give advice. I've just tried to make my blog mine and be myself. I liked what another blogger said to ask people to add buttons to their blogs. Most of all I would say to never give up and just keep going with your business because it is a great idea. If you do it because you love it then you will be successful. Thanks for letting me peek at your blog.

My 3 best tips -

1) Blog a lot! More updates means more visitors!
2) Comment on other blogs. Other bloggers read your comments and come to your blog.
3) User Google reader (or something like it) to know when others blogs have been updated. A huge timesaver.

Congrats on 100 posts!!

Those rugs are so beautiful! I love them!

I found your blog through "the Joys of Home" blog. My best advice is to give your blog a custom look. I visit new blogs all the time, and the ones that catch my eye are the ones that have a theme or layout that is unique to the blogger and the things that they love.

Carry Grace said...

Awesome giveaway! I'm not an expert, but my best blog advise is good content, and consistency.

Kimberly said...

What a cool giveaway! I feel fairly new as well, but my advice would be to visit other blogs and comment when something truly interests you; that person is probably going to come check your blog out so they can return the favor. I also advise breaking up text into short paragraphs that are easier on the eye...when things are easy to read people tend to stick around to read more.

I hope I win!!

I am a new blogger myself (mostly an online journal for myself and far-away family to read!).
I am however an experienced online shopper! I have several blogs that I check daily because of their fabulous ideas! Organizing, crafting, mom-ing - I love learning and reading about others experiences and ideas!
My suggestion is "guest blogging". That is where I find some of the best blogs (and products) - I follow those links!
Love the rugs - AND I found you through a link!
Thanks!

Hi! I came over from Joys of Home. Your rugs are fantastic!

Though I haven't done this yet, it sure looks like it works for others. When you do a giveaway (which is a great idea to produce traffic), give more entries if they post the giveaway on their blog. The comments just multiply like crazy that way!

My advice is this....Try not to keep up with all those bloggers out there, it is IMPOSSIBLE. Everyone has their own ideas about making money, decorating, crafts, etc. Be yourself. Put your rugs for sale as a link to your blog. I don't sell anything, but that is what i would do.
Please enter me into your giveaway. I love those rugs!

Beautiful rugs! My best advice is to update often, and never post anything on your blog that you wouldn't want someone to know. cute rugs! I found your blog from someone else who posted your give away. Another reason I keep going to a blog is when they respond to my question or comment even if it is a few weeks later it makes me think they really care about their readers.

I also still feel like a new blogger. I would say to plan on a little more time that you think it's going to take you to post something. I know if I think it's going to take me 5 minutes to write a post, it usually takes 10-15. (Maybe it's just me...) :) And BTW, cute rugs!

-Show off rugs that correlate with particular interests, holidays, football/baseball season etc and let corresponding bloggers know about them by reaching out to those blogs

Good luck! I'm glad I found your blog today from joysofhome

Darlene,

Adorable giveaway! Who says you need advice? Looks like you've got the right idea :) But a few other places that you can get out there would be places like Ebay and Etsy. Probably already been mentioned, but they are great places to get noticed. I have also seen a lot of things be sold at my local farmer's market. Granted, not might not be the season, but it's an idea. You've got to get out there and be seen so the word can get out. Stay true to you and you won't have any regrets. Again, adorable rugs! Thanks for the drawing!

I am new to blogging as well but in the short time I have been on, I noticed that people use twitter and other social network sites to advertise their sites. I also have seen people's blogs with ad and I think giveaways are a great way to get traffic.

Hey Darlene,
I'm a blog reading addict. You are on my favorites list and I'm a member of your fan club! I agree about updating the posts often. I have a set number of blogs I check daily and yours is one. WE LOVE having daily posts to read and seeing all your creativity. Your rugs are adorable and I already have the perfect spot picked out :). Congrats on your 100th post! Keep up the good work!

I think you are doing a great job! The only advice I would have is to make sure you link your blog in emails, facebook, etc. Have you friends link it too...

My advise is to comment often on others blogs. That seems tohelp others know about your own blog.

Please add my name to win this wonderful rug

Oooh! Such fun, lovely rugs!
I found you via Martha (aka Yvette)'s blog.
I've been blogging for a little while...when I get to it. I think the most important thing is to just keep it nice. Everyone has enough strife and nastiness in their lives...and if your blog is nice (both in content and responses), you will be remembered for that.
Best wishes to you!!

Love the Rugs! My husband and I have the same first name initial so I collect things to display in our home with that letter, I never have seen a monogrammed rug though!
I am a very low tech and economical lady so I will give you very simple free advice you can use to increase traffic.
Most importantly is to get connected with other blogs. I found you through a link in another blog I read. So contact other friends or related topic blogs and link up with them or let them know of related posts you may have so they can link their readers to you. I visit craftzine and other Big blogs everyday which are nothing but a bunch of links to other blogs, I find all my blogs that way.
After you get people to come make sure your content is great enugh to keep 'em! I recommend posting often, 3-4 a day, this can be your stuff and links to other blogs with related projects. I like a lot of content to make it worth my while to keep visiting.
How to's are great things because people will find them while searching and then bookmark you. Post your things other places, like Flicker, deviant art etc. Also a translator plug in helps.
Sorry, I'm so wordy, keep up the great work!

What a fabulous giveaway!

I'm not sure that I'm the best to give advice as I am new to the blogging world. I have found that the more you visit others and comment, they return the thoughts by coming to your blog which would then introduce them to your lovely carpets. I am also noticing buttons that are being created for blogs.

Best of luck!
Jo

What an awesome give away! It would look great in my first grandbaby's nursery due in may! Those are too cute! I'm new to all of this too but am having lots of visitors to my site. Love watching the Feedjit! I've left comments on lots of blogs. I'm enjoying reading all the comments here! If I don't win...I just may have to come back and buy one! You know how these first time grammy's are!
May the Lord bless your family and business beyond your wildest dreams!

Hi there! Love love this custom rug. I have a 6-year-old little girl who is pestering me like crazy to redo her room so this would be perfect for her new "big girl rock star room." ;) I clicked over from Twitter from Rhoda.

You might want to participate in a Bloggy Giveaway carnival. The next one is the week of January 26. They generate a lot of traffic and it's a great way to introduce yourself to new readers. I'd also recommend joining Twitter if you have not already.

I know I'm way too late for this but I just found you through Rhoda from Southern Hospitality. They only thing I would add, if you want to make money, besides Google ads would be to sell related affiliate products, meaning signing up with linkshare, amazon, share a sale, commission junction, art.com and the like. Then when someone clicks through and buys a product you get a percentage 8 - 10% (art.com 25%). At this moment I make approx. an extra $100 a month. Hope this helped.

What a great gift. Sign me up. I found your site from Joys of Home. I love her format. The new ideas AND how-tos. One thing I do not like on blogs is too much personal stuff. I really do not care to see other's vacation photos. I have been checking out other blogs from Joys of Home by clicking on the "awards" other people have given her. My best advice is to keep it up and keep people interested. Good luck and God bless!!
