I wasn't going to mention this on the blog, but I know that most of you ladies are Christian and could offer up some prayers for my situation. I truly believe in the power of prayer & the bible says when 2 or more are gathered together there will I (God) be also.
Here is my situation that I need prayer for: I won't get into all the details, but basically my brother & I are trying to make wise financial decisions for our 78 yr old mom. Mom is being irrational so we are trying to look out for her best interest. Mom is saying that we better do what she wants even if it's not in her best interest or we will not have a mom. She is threatening to not have anything to do with us if we don't go along with her no matter how irrational she is being.
I emailed the Suze Orman show about this situation and my question was chosen to be on the show. So the other day I was able to speak with Suze Orman about this and she agreed that by all means mom's idea was NOT GOOD and that we were to protect mom at all costs! This in one way helped to know we were in the right according to this well respected financial genius, but on the other hand we just want our mom to be happy and love us! This is tough love!! UGH! We are really between a rock & a hard place with this and with the holidays coming up...it makes it even worse. Please pray that mom will listen to reason and have peace that what we are saying & doing is only with her best interest at heart!

Oh my, I don't envy your situation at all. I will keep all three of you covered in prayer and ask that God's will be done in this situation. Could mom maybe need an exam? If she's not thinking clearly there may be something else going on. Just an idea.

Darlene, I feel for you. My hubby has been dealing with a similar situation with his mom & grandma. His grandma esp. is really irrational on the things she wants to do & he has had to really put his foot down with her. He even set up a trust for all their assets so that they couldn't just make bad decisions on their own. We'll all be praying for you!
Will be praying for you Darlene. Our mother's have passed away, but we remember what you are dealing with and understand. My friend is now going through this with her mom, in her 80's. My friend is an only child. It's very hard for her.

My mother has been very ill for the last 3 years. We have a family member who has had mom and dad change alot about their financial situation and their will.
I am not going to argue with this member so I have decide to let god handle it for me. I tell god all the time that I can't deal with it so I have faith that he will. It gets so bad that I found myself so upset that I couldn't function. I love life and my family and grandkids and that is what keeps me going. I don't like negative people around me so I move on. I will pray that god will lead you and your brother to make the right decisions; Darlene it's our generation that is having it so bad with our parents. I don't remember my grandparents being this much trouble. Is it because we know more about their illness today. You are doing a wonderful job on your kitchen; can't wait to see the final results.
