Make Iced Branches

You know how in the winter ice crystals just sparkle when they catch some sunlight? Well you can recreate that look in your holiday decorations! I'm sure you've see the ice crystal branches in stores or the garlands that have ice crystlas in them. Now you can make your own! It's very easy! All you need is:

Tree Branches
Glue (I use Aleene's Tacky Glue)
Colorfill Diamond Vase Filler 1 lb by Garden Splendor
(I bought mine from eBay, although you might be able to buy it at Hobby Stores like Hobby Lobby or Michaels)

Step 1.

Place a sheet of newspaper down for a work area. Pour a pile of Colorfill Diamonds in the center.

Step 2.

Place tacky glue on the branches and roll in the Diamonds. Let set 1 hour and you have ice covered branches. I might suggest that you spray the branches with an acrylic sealer after they are iced. Easy as that!

Variations: Add some artificial moss or red berries to some of the branches

Remember to show us all your Ice Crystal Branches when you get yours completed!

How neat! Does Walmart sell those Diamonds? Or do you know where else might have these. Living in a small town it is hard for me to find some things for crafts.

I love this idea!! I have admired those branches, and now I can make my own! Thanks :)

Also, to answer your question about how I hung my garland: 3m Command hooks (big white ones). They are temporarily stuck on top of the mantle, with a branch wound around the hook. No holes, and easy-peasy! :) It's held for at least 4 days now great!

OMG...it's almost spooky how like-minded we are. I was thinking about making some of those but hadn't figured out yet what to use as the "sparkly" part. I'm going to the craft store to find the Colorfill Diamond Vase Filler...You ARE a genius! I've got plenty of sticks and twigs in the yard I can use. OK...now I have 1,000,001 projects to complete but I'm LOVING it! Have a great week!

Never heard of that stuff, Darlene. That looks so neat, I might have to put that on my list of things to try. Like I've got a ton of time! ha-ha
