Quirky Things About Me!

Quirky Things About Me (I got this idea from French over at British Colonial Love Affair...thanks French!)

1. I love to vacuum & love to mow the lawn. Wierd I know. I think it has to do with my need for instant gratification. You can vacuum & mow the lawn and when your done it looks pretty! You should of heard me when we lost electricity due to strong winds from Ike...I kept saying, "I just wish I could vacuum"! I did get to mow the lawn though...so I was happy!

2. I don't like pancakes or syrup! I just don't like the mushy texture & syrup is just too sweet. I do however, like waffles with fruit & whipped cream!

3. I hate runny egg yolks. If I order eggs at a restaurant and they don't fully cook them I can't eat it! The yolk has to be hard (cooked)

4. My house has to be spotless before we leave for any trip or vacation. I think this is normal, daughter says it's quirky.

5. I can't sleep in the car when someone is driving. I think it's a control thing. I think as long as I'm awake I can save us from possibly getting in an accident.

6. Really bright colors (like Day Glo) hurt my eyes.

7. I get headaches when people burn their leaves. Is that quirky??

8. I say a prayer of protection for my daughter everytime she drives. I've been saying the same prayer for her since she was 16, she's now 20.

9. I'm claustrophobic

10. I can't stand being tickeled!

That's all I can think of for now.

Here's some answers to questions about my hubby;

1. He's sitting in front of the tv, what is on the screen? A Western movie or anything to do with cars, especially hot rods/street rods

2. You're out to eat what kind of dressing does he get on his salad? Ranch

3. What's one food he doesn't like? Liver (I don't blame him)

4. You go out to the bar, what does he order? Whiskey or Beer

5. Where did he go to high school? Canoga Park, California

6. What size shoe does he wear? 10/10 1/2

7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be? Old cars

8. What is his favorite type of sandwich? He likes all kinds of sandwiches, he would choose a sandwich probably over anything!

9. What would this person eat every day if he could? A sandwich!

10. What is his favorite cereal? He really doesn't eat cereal, but if he did it would be a natural granola.

11. What would he never wear? Speedo or some baggy jeans

12. What is his favorite sports team? He doesn't watch sports so no favorite sports team.

13. Who will he vote for? McCain

14. Who is his best friend? Me!

15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn't do? Stay up late all the time & be on the computer all the time.

16. How many states has he lived in? Three, North Carolina, Calif, & Arkansas

17. What is his heritage? He's a mutt. German, Irish, English, some Cherokee Indian

18. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake? Carrot Cake

19. Did he play sports in high school? Nope

20. What could he spend hours doing? Building his hot rod, going to car shows

21. Does your hubby have anything quirky about him? Yes! He counts things. For example; if he see's bricks on a fireplace he will count the bricks. Wierd, huh?!

Those are a few facts about my hubby.

Have an awesome weekend!

When I was younger and living at home, I never understood why my mom would clean before leaving for vacation. But now that I have a home of my own, I GET IT!!! I could never leave my house a mess cause then I have to come home to it - ugh!

Hi Darlene,

I love learning a bit more about my blogging friends. I too want a clean house to come home to after a trip and don't sleep in the car for the same reason as yours!!

Hi Darlene...love reading the quirking things! :-) I used to be that way about the staying awake when someone is driving thing! :-)Hi Picket...Thanks for checking out the Flea posting! :-) Regarding Tussie Mussies...here's a little description I found online at Eras of Elegance website: "A tussie mussie is a round nosegay bouquet comprised of several varieties of flowers. As such, the tussie mussie conveyed different messages of romantic sentiment when given from a special admirer. They were usually wrapped in a lace doily and tied with a ribbon. Later, silver tussie mussie holders became popular, and Victorian brides often walked down the aisle carrying these elaborate and beautiful bouquets." Picket and Darlene...the little silver plate piece is upside down in the photo but you can turn it up right and the little nose gay or bouquet would fit down into the tussie mussie container. You can see lots more tussie mussies at this site: http://www.englishcreekgardens.com/tussie.htm :-)Susan

I am exactly like you on number 5!!!
How funny is that?

Thanks for showing me your cute chalkboard. I think if I make another one, or redo the one I just did, I'll do the magnetic paint too.

The finishing touches on your beautiful daughter's room look great.

Have a great weekend.

Loved this post!!!! I'm the same way about cleaning. I cannot leave home without it done. Oh and claustrophobic too!!! Also, your husband sounds a lot like mine.. he loves old cars and western movies.

When I was your daughter's age, I thought my mom was quirky too. Now I have to clean my place from top to bottom before I leave town, even for the weekend. And it's near impossible for me to leave my bed unmade...ever.
