Garage Sale Treasures

My 21 yr old daughter and I ventured out friday morning to some garage sales. Our mission was to find decor items for her future home. She will be moving out in 1 yr after she graduates RN nursing school. We figured this yr would be the perfect time for us to go garage saleing to find stuff for cheap for her future new home. I even found a few things for me!

So, come on let me show you what we got!

Daughter bought this ornate gold mirror for $2. She will either paint the frame white or black and distress it for the shabby chic look.

She got this for $1. The stand was white, but she painted it black. I don't know what she will put in it?? Any Ideas??

Oh and here is my beauty! I am either going to use it in my bedroom or in the bathroom when we remodel it. It was $10. It was made in the 1920's.
I got this on saturday for daughter when hubby & I went to some garage sales. It is one of those candle holders that goes into the fireplace. It was $2. I think I'll use it this yr before she moves out. LOL

I put 1 candle on it just to show you what it is for.

I spotted this and new it would look fab painted in Heirloom White and distressed. I love the shape of it! This was $1. I don't know what to put in it though. Any Ideas??

I haven't decided if this is mine or daughters. Maybe mine till she moves. ;)

Found this awesome tall candle holder for daughter. She gave me the tassel off of it because it's my colors. She will either paint this white or black and distress it. Got it for $2

Also found this iron stand.

She can either use it as a plate stand (I painted the plate a few yrs ago at a paint pottery studio)

or a cookbook stand.

I got this awesome tray for moi! Love the texture & color. But not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. This was $2

And last but not least I got these glittery beaded candle holders to use during Christmas since I decorate with Gold I figured they would look amazing on the Christmas dining room table. These were $2 for all 5.

Ok, hubby wants me to show you what he got for $5.

We watch that show called "American Pickers" and they always buy rusty old bikes...so hubby got it to resale, but now he says he might restore it. We will see!

Did you find any treasures this past weekend?

I am linking up with Rhoda from Southern Hospitality blog for her Thrifty Treasures Linky Party. Be sure to stop by there to see everyone else's treasures!

My mom has one of those wooden pedestal bowls... we always used it for nuts, especially around Christmas time - just filled it with walnuts, almonds, etc. and left a nutcracker sitting on top.

Wow! You scored. I don't have pics (should do that though), but I got a toile tray for $1 to use in a potting shed we're building, a chair for FREE that I've already distressed and changed the cushion on. Darn why didn't I take a before pic., a lantern for the garden for .50 cents, and an umbrella to attached to a lawn chair for .50 cents. Had just broken one at a soccer game and thought we needed to go by Dick's and spend $10. Thank goodness we didn't. I love a bargain as much as I love keeping this stuff out of the landfills.

FUN stuff! You won't believe it but I found the exact same wooden stand thing (not sure what to call it) and here is what I did with mine: It covered beautifully with spray paint!
