My Thrift Store Find And MakeOver

Hope you all had a great weekend! They just never are long enough, are they?!

Did you know that every monday you can check out all the thrifting and garage sale finds from about 100+ bloggers? Just go to Rhoda's blog-Southern Hospitality to find all the links or to participate in her linky party called Thrifty Treasures AND you can go check out how people all across blogland have transformed things they have over at Susan's blog-Between Naps On The Porch. Susan hosts the linky party called Metamorphosis Monday. So stop on by both of these blogs to get some great inspiration!

Today I am participating in both of these linky parties- Thrifting Treasures & Metamorphosis Monday.

I scored this framed mirror at the Salvation Army. It was $12...way more than I normally would have spent, but I liked the size and detail!

Now you know that I couldn't keep it as is! I had hubby remove the mirror (for use on a future project) and I proceeded to prime & paint it & distress it a bit. Then I painted a piece of Luann with chalkboard paint and Voila......a new chalkboard!

Now I made this to sell but now I'm wondering if I should keep it for my kitchen instead of the smaller one I made. So I need you to help me decide if I should stick with the smaller one I made for my kitchen or if I should sell the smaller one and keep this new large chalkboard?? Decisions Decisions!

Ok, time to vote on which one I should keep.

UPDATE: Ok, you all voted for me to keep the big one so...........

now I'm selling the smaller chalkboard. Let me know if you would like to buy it. Just leave a comment or email me at darlene@creativecarpetdesign.com

It is $39/$8 shipping

Thanks
~Darlene~

Love this. Every time I see one of these fabulous chalkboards, I want to make one, too! I'm on the hunt for the frame! Can't wait.

Great metamorphosis!

Hi there. What a great find! I need a mirror frame like that now. I think you should keep the bigger one. It looks like it belongs right where you placed it.
Blessings,
Sandra

Big one!

I'm voting for the big one, too. The extra carved detailing on the top makes it really special.

I love both but I think the larger one is best on your wall. It looks great! Have a super Monday.

The larger mirror fits the wall area better, so I would keep it and move it slightly to the right of the wall switch. This was a fantastic make-over and I don't think $12 was too high a price to have paid for it.

PS... how's the diet going? I did download it and read about it. You must have some willpower, girl!

Another vote for teh big one!

I recently bought a pair of mirrors very similiar to your's. I like your chalkboard so much that I just might make a chalkboard out of one of them.

They are both great, but I vote to keep the big one.

Hello Darlene,

Both chalkboard mirrors look great, but the big one fits perfectly into the space. I vote for the big one to keep. Have you checked out the chalk board markers that Sugar Pie Farmhouse featured on her blog? They are fun and make the chalk board a work of art:)

Best,

Debi

Incredible! I love the big one. Just curious, what is the paint color in your kitchen? If you don't mind sharing, I'd love to know! Thank you!

Hi Darlene,
Looks like you already made your decision, but I was voting to keep the large one - it is perfect for that spot! You did a great job!

Hello ~
Good job.....I am leaning towards the big one. I think the big one fits the space well and if you keep the smaller one...maybe add something else to balance out the wall ? Just me 2 cents - not a decorator... Love them both...

Awesome job on the chalkboard. I liked it so much that found a frame on Craigslist and did one today. I absolutely love it...and I wouldn't have even thought about doing it, if I hadn't seen how nice yours turned out.

I'll post the pics on my blog this weekend. Right now, I need to find a way to remove chalkboard paint from my fingernails...lol.

LOVE THAT! It reminds me a lot of the one that Olive Rue did, but she painted hers an aqua blue. Yours looks stunning in white. You can NEVER go wrong with white!

Thanks for joining me today!
