Valentine Decor For Your Home

Do you decorate your home for Valentine's Day? Have you ever wondered why people decorate for Halloween using skulls, spiders, ghosts, scary stuff, etc, but most do not decorate for Valentine's Day? When Valentine's Day celebrates Love shouldn't that be just as big as a decorating holiday as Halloween is?? Actually I think it should be BIGGER! After all the #1 commandment is to love one another!

So upon thinking of how to decorate the home for Valentine's Day I turned to etsy to check out what handmade goodness I could find.

How about these vintage Valentine's cards...how cute would these be framed?? I'll answer for you...it would be amazing!

You can find the vintage valentine cards here...

Who said you can't add some love to the bathroom? Not me! These heart shaped soaps would be terrific in a bathroom. By the sink or by the bathtub.

You can find the heart soaps here...

How cool would it be to write a love note and have it made into a pillow? It would be So Cool!

You can order the postcard pillow here...

State your love on pillows!

Pottery Barn Look-a-Like Art

A few months ago I mentioned that I had some extra hard wood flooring left over from having our floors installed. These were just short planks that the installer had cut. Hubby wanted to throw them away, but I said, "NO, I'm sure I can figure out something to do with them." Well, this is what I decided to do. It's a copy from Pottery Barn but done with my own design.

Here is the PB one

Here is the process:

1. Glue planks together in size you want

2. cut out a design (I cut out fall leaves for my design)

3. use spray adhesive to glue them to the wood

4. spray the entire wood with a white or cream spray paint

5. carefully pull off the paper cut outs

6. if there is some leftover adhesive on the wood...clean it off with a qtip dipped in an adhesive remover

7. There ya go....PB inspired art with your leftover wood flooring planks!

Perfect for art for fall and oh so cheap to do!

If you all do this project, please show me yours!

Got Shutters??

I've gotten about 2 hours of sleep. Went to bed at midnight and was wide awake by 2:30am.
So what do I do?? Get up and do a blog post, of course! LOL

I have been on the search for antique or vintage shutters. I've been mainly searching our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I just love the texture & dimension they add to a home. They can be used in so many ways and they come in all shapes & sizes. Take a look at these photos to get inspiration of how you might incorporate shutters in your home...they're not just for windows!

Our Creative Life

Hi!
Thanks for stopping by! Hubby and I are both pretty creative if I do say so. I am good at visualizing what I want but if I can't find it or make it...he can usually make it. Alot of times he is the laborer behind my designs & ideas so we make a great team! In fact back a few years ago, I wanted a rug to match my new sofa, but couldn't find one that I like or with the colors I wanted. Being the entrepreneur that I've always been I started thinking that there needed to be a company that offered custom rugs. You know... any size, shape or colors that you wanted. So I researched to see if there was such a company. I found that there was, but not many in the US. There had to be more people like me wanting rugs that were custom and not the mass marketed rugs. A couple months later we got trained in the art of custom rug making and voila...we started Creative Carpet Design. This is just one area of our lives that we use our creativity. I will be sharing creative ideas for home decor, gift giving, parties, holidays and much more on this blog. I hope to inspire you to live a creative life!
