Sorry it's been such a loooong time since I last posted.
We've had a family emergency.
In the middle of January my mom's friend called me to let me know that she had not been able to get in touch with my 81 yr old mom on the phone and she was worried about her. My mom loves talking on the phone so this was not like her. Hubby & I immediatly rushed over to her home. Her door was locked from the inside so even though we had a key we could not unlock her door....so hubby kicked in the door. We found my mom laying naked on her bedroom floor. She was conscious but very confused! She asked if we were the police. When I told her it was us she told me that we were going to jail because we locked her in her home. WOW! I tried explaining to her that we had just arrived and were there to help her. She didn't believe that and said she hated me. Another WOW! So anyway....ambulence arrived and took her to the hospital. Later we found out she suffered a stroke and that her pace maker had gone to 1/8th battery power. The next day her pace maker battery was replaced. After 1 week in the hospital she was put in a nursing home for rehab. Dr said she could no longer live alone again and so my brother & I looked into assisted living. We found an AMAZING place called The Atrium that was in my town and just opened last year. After 1 month of being at rehab, mom was released. I had 1 1/2 weeks to get her new apartment at the Atrium ready. I mixed in new things with her old things from her old home. Everything was in place & decorated before my mom arrived at her new apartment last Monday. She loved it! (thankfully)
Here it is...... (click on photos to enlarge)
Loveseat and Chair is by Angelo Surmelis (remember the designer from HGTV?) Bought online. The ottoman was bought at Home Goods before I got the furniture so it doesn't exactly match, but made it work. Mirror above chair and art above loveseat was also from Home Goods. Tiffany Lamps and side tables, grandfather clock were all moms.
Bedding was all bought new. Pub table was bought from Sam's Club. Dresser was moms as well as recliner and night stands.
Hope she enjoys it for several yrs! It was fun for me to do for her.

I'm so glad your mom is ok...how scary! Sounds like you have had a rough couple of months. You did a great job on her apartment. I bet she is proud of it. Kristen
Sorry about the stroke.
The apartment looks nice
My Mom never made it into assisted living. She was in nursing homes for 3 years and never walked again after she fell one time. My sister didn't care for decorating, and she was afraid of theft. There were so many problems! One room mate would wake up and wake my Mom up in the dark and frighten her, so she moved. Roommates died, so she had different roommates. It was very difficult. Surrounding your Mom with beauty is healing for you and for her. I wish I had been able to do that.
I'm glad things worked out in the end, must of been scarey and heart breaking to see your mom that way. Her new place looks beautiful and looks homey. Wish you and your family all the best.
