Got Shutters??


I've gotten about 2 hours of sleep. Went to bed at midnight and was wide awake by 2:30am.
So what do I do?? Get up and do a blog post, of course! LOL


I have been on the search for antique or vintage shutters. I've been mainly searching our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I just love the texture & dimension they add to a home. They can be used in so many ways and they come in all shapes & sizes. Take a look at these photos to get inspiration of how you might incorporate shutters in your home...they're not just for windows!

    OH, thanks so much for the inspirational pics. I have been looking for an idea for a headboard. I don't really want to buy one right now and the shutter idea is very cool. I have a few and we have a ReStore here. I'll go asap and get some to make a headboard. Love that idea. Have a great day

    I have no shutters expect what the onwer of house has on the front which are a few ugly ones. I love shutters and I love some of these ideas. the white ones in the bedroom are one of my favorites.

    I hate those cant sleep nights!

    Yes, we do have antique shutters, but they are on the windows! Some are in fairly good shape, others are a wee bit spooky and need rehab. And a few have gone missing entirely.

    When we do the exterior painting, we'll restore and reolace what we can. Thank goodness we have all the original hardware, at least it's a start!

    Those old louvered shutters in your first picture look as though they might have fallen right off our old house! --Cass

    I've been on the lookout for more vintage shutters. J found some along the road, while he was working.
    We just needed four to do a shutter screen for the back porch. We only paid about $7 each for them, which I thought was a great bargain. These were from renovations on old St Louis houses. I like that we got a bit of history to go with the shutters. I think a few shutters will be the solution to a decor dilemma at the condo. Just need to keep my eyes open for just the right ones.

    We didn't do anything to the porch shutters. They are very weathered with just a little of the green paint remaining. They afford a bit of privacy, yet the view isn't obstructed. Also adds to the ambiance of the back porch.

    My favorite uses there would have to be the headboards and the long skinny console table. I do not like that one eating area (2nd from the bottom) - it's just too much wood, making it look old, dusty, and very 1970's.

    Oooooooo!!!!!! I love those pictures! I did something similar to that second picture in my older son's room at our old house. It didn't look quite that good, but I loved it anyway.

    I've been on the hunt for some shutters for a specific spot. I'm trying very hard to be patient and wait until I find exactly what I want.

    I looked for shutters forever! I finally found them at an antique market for only $10 each! I used them to cover one of those horrible holes above a fireplace that was really meant for a TV. I have them somewhere on my personal blog. Love them.
