An Easter Tablescape

I had big plans on doing an Easter tablescape using some pretty floral branches, but I've come down with a bad cold. In fact both girls are too. The only one that isn't sick is hubby.

Anyway, I'm not up to entertaining or cooking for Easter...so thought I would show you a tablescape I threw together last year at the last minute. I just used stuff around the house

Oh and I wanted to show you how the Easter sign turned out that Callie painted over spring break....isn't it cute!!..
Happy Tablescaping!!

You can provide your suffering brothers and sisters with a portion of God's Word at no cost to you. It's FREE so please follow this link to donate a bible for free!!!

Need your Opinion

I was planning on adding tumbled marble as the kitchen backsplash, but then I saw Tara's kitchen from her Blondie 'N' SC blog. She used beadboard & tumbled marble as her backsplash and it looks fabulous.

We have soffits above our cabinets that could not be removed and she has soffits too. She painted her beadboard the same color as her soffits to bring the color down...visually I think that was a great idea!

I'm thinking maybe I should do the same thing and bring the SW clary sage color down from the soffits to the future beadboard backsplash and then add about 6" high of tumbled marble. By the way the counters will either be dark butcherblock or granite...not sure yet.

So, please vote on what I should do:

A. Add beadboard painted SW Clary Sage and tumbled marble (like Tara's)
B. Add full backsplash of tumbled marble
C. Other (let me know your idea)

Thanks! Oh and don't forget to go check out Tara's blog Blondie 'N' SC she is a great photographer, has an adorable little boy, and she does some very adorable, creative blog posts.

April Food Day

Rhoda of Southern Hospitality brought this to my attention and I am passing it along. Hope you will do the same...but just don't post about, please donate.

What you sow, so shall you reap! In other words, when you are in need of food someday...you will have it!

Everyday, the news is filled with the dire news about the current economic climate and a lot of us use the blogging community to take a break from the constant drumbeat. However, we can not ignore the fact that friends and family members, and even some blogger friends have lost their jobs because of the recession.

Former advertising executive, Chris Cox, the editor of Easy & Elegant Life, and fundraising professional, Meg Fairfax Fielding, editor of Pigtown*Design, have teamed up to create a blogger action day on April 1, 2009, which we are calling April Food Day – Bloggers Fighting Hunger. We are asking our fellow bloggers to create a post about this project and ask each of their readers to make a contribution to Feeding America (formerly Second Harvest), a national food bank with 200 member banks across the country.

People who never had a worry in the world now have to think about where their next meal is coming from. People who never would have dreamt that they would need help are now showing up at the local food banks. But when they get there, the shelves are bare. There is not enough food being donated to meet the sudden rise in demand. There is not enough money to buy the food for the food banks. There is not a general understanding that food banks need help to help fill their shelves.

Every dollar contributed provides seven meals or 10 pounds of food. A gift of $25 provides 75 meals. If we all post together and ask our readers to make a contribution on April 1, we can make a huge difference in our communities.

Click here to go to the donation page for the Food Bank.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to read this. I’m sure any help you can give would be appreciated. If any of you would like to post this on your blog on April 1st, that would be appreciated too.

God Bless!

More Work On Our Kitchen

We started the kitchen remodel so long ago. I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever be done!
OK, Darlene..keep the faith!! Be POSITIVE!! It will be done SOON!!!
We are doing it all ourselves and we don't have much time at all. Hubby works 10 hours a day at his regular job and then works another 3-4 hours a day on our custom rug business. So work on the kitchen is sporatic. He did however make some time to hang the upper cabinet doors this past weekend...yippee!! Here is how they looked before.

I think they look beautiful if I do say so myself!

As you can see I did decide to keep the doors off of the cabinet above the microwave & above the refrigerator.
I wanted to break up the wall of cabinets and add something a bit unexpected...so I added baskets. They are so much easier to get stuff out of now. I just pull down the basket, before when the doors were on I always had to get a chair to get into those high cabinets.

Now on to working on the lower cabinets.

One day soon I hope to have this kitchen completed...sigh!
