A Sunday Spent Playing with Photos

I should be out in our workshop helping hubby with painting the kitchen cabinet doors, but I got caught up with all the cool things you can do with digital photos. Check out this Warhol style photo of our dog.

Wow, instant art! Just print, mat & frame!

Then I created this with our family photo & added the saying.

Both of the above were created over at Big Huge Labs.

Then I went over to Loona Pix and did this:

Hey, Callie...can you lend me a few million??!! LOL

How about a cool sketch of your photo? So cool!

Ok I gotta stop playing and go help hubby with the kitchen cabinet doors!

Have Fun!

An Easy Valentine Craft for your Home

Do you remember the candy christmas tree our daughter made during the holidays?? Well we all thought it turned out so great! That made me start thinking of what we could make for the valentine's day holiday. We had just bought some large conversation hearts, so I knew it had to include those. So when at the dollar store I spotted a photo frame with a flat front, I knew this would be perfect with the conversation hearts!

I wanted the frame black, so out came the trusty spray paint.

Once the frame was dry, I laid out the candy hearts on the frame so I had the proper spacing. Once I liked the layout, I hot glued each piece of candy to the frame.

So easy!! After I was done there were a few of those pesky hot glue strings so I took my handy blow dryer to it & voila no more hot glue strings. Now just spray with some polyurethane & add a photo to it and enjoy!! Isn't it cute??? I think it is! Especially the sweet girl in the frame...my Callie at age 5.

Happy Crafting!

Decorating for Valentine's Day

Do you decorate your home for Valentine's Day? If so, do you just add a touch of valentine decor or do you go all out for the holiday?

I usually only decorate the table the day or day before Valentine's day. Today I realize it was exactly 1 month until the big day, so I decided to add just a bit of valentine decor. I got the glittery "Love" sign at Hobby Lobby after Christmas for 85% off so it was dirt cheap! I guess it was meant for Christmas, but it screams Valentine's Day to me!! Last year I got a bunch of plastic red hearts from the place my daughter works for $1. You should see how many hearts I have!! They used them as display/decor in the store she works at and they were getting rid of display & decor. I also had a piece of heart fabric that I had bought a few yrs ago that I brought out that I used as a runner. I'm not crazy about the burgundy color vase holding the orchid but for now it will have to do. I think one of these heart shaped topiaries would look pretty stunning! Found these at Overstock.

I actually bought one of these for hubby for valentine's day years ago...but I killed it. I don't have much of a green thumb!

Oh and check these out! I Love these LOVE pillows! I found them here Not sure if they are sold in the US, but if not I'm sure some of you talented women can recreate these!!

I will be sharing a great Valentine's craft for you later this week...so come back & make a great decor item with me!

Oh and please enter my GIVEAWAY here.

Finally We Sleep!

Hubby and I have had a waterbed for the entire 20 yrs of our marriage. I know, I know your thinking who in 2009 still has a waterbed. Well we kept ours because it was the only bed I had found that didn't cause me excruciating pain in my hips. Since I was a child I've always slept on my side and my hips always hurt on spring loaded mattresses. So when hubby and I met he had a waterbed and for the first time I found could sleep on a waterbed without the pain so that is why we have had one for so many years. Well, as hubby & I got older (in our 40's) we found that we were not sleeping good anylonger mainly due to we would wake up anytime one of us turned over in bed (which was all night long). I also longed to have pretty sheets...which were not available for waterbeds! Have you seen waterbed sheets??? They are scratchy & usually have a hideous design on them! So on New Year's eve we found a company on the internet that had amazing reviews on their mattresses. The company is called "Bed In A Box". The mattress is made of a memory foam so no springs to push on my hips! The bed literaly ships to you in a box. Their return policy is almost unheard of which made me take the plunge and buy it. They offer 120 In-Home Trial Period and they will even pay for the shipping cost to mail it back! We bought the PacDown Plus 11" and can tell you that hubby and I have slept great for the past week. We don't even feel each other turn over so we stay asleep all night! My hips don't hurt and I can finally have pretty sheets! WooHoo! I am not being paid to talk about this company just wanted to share with you just in case your in the market for a new mattress.

Now I need a new bed for my new mattress! Right now we just put the mattress in our waterbed frame. Here is the bed I am thinking of getting. I have to wait though until our kitchen is done!

Don't forget tomorrow is my 100th post and I am having a GIVEAWAY..so come back and enter!!

Out of the mouths of babes!

Wish I had a photo of this, but I don't so just use your imagination! Friday morning our 12 yr old daughter got up for school, put on her clothes and came down stairs for breakfast. She said, Dad, mom ruined my jeans. She washed them wrong and now they are too big...look at them (as she holds out the waist)". Dad laughs and says, "Callie there is no way clothes get bigger when they are washed, they shrink but don't get bigger." She said, well these jeans got bigger..LOOK at them!" So dad says, "those are not your jeans, look at the size." Callie says, they are size 12...that is my size...these are MY jeans and mom ruined them!" Dad says, "Callie, those look like your mom's jeans, I think she wears size 12." Callie responds, "look dad they have the fading and the whiskers (faded lines on the thigh) just like mine...these are MINE, and mom can't wear the same size as me, duh!" Dad finally convinces her that they are not her jeans and to just go take them off and put them in mom's bedroom and to get some other jeans on. Hubby then wakes me up to tell me the jean story...oh how funny! I just wish I had a video of all of that! Obviously I accidently put my jeans in with her jeans when I was folding clothes last week. Anyway, had to share this funny story with you! Hope you got a good laugh! I sure did!!

Stay tuned, my 100th post is coming up soon and I'm planning a giveaway!!!

Take Care!
